This 28 year-old woman was dissatisfied with the size of her breasts. Both breasts were undersized for her frame and slightly imbalanced in size, with the left breast somewhat larger than the right. After spending some time looking into the different surgical approaches and researching her options for cosmetic surgeons in the area, she planned a consultation with a San Francisco cosmetic surgeon at Plastic Surgery Associates. After much thought, she and her surgeon agreed on a breast enlargement procedure with saline implants to achieve her desired D cup. She underwent bilateral breast augmentation with smooth, round saline implants placed below her pectoralis muscle and then filled to 570 cc on the right side and 530 cc on the left side. This procedure can be performed under either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, and patients can expect the surgery itself to last between 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
