Francisco L. Canales, MD Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Francisco Canales is a Harvard and Stanford educated board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic care for men and women. Before becoming a well-established plastic surgeon in San Francisco, Dr. Canales owned and operated a practice in Boston, MA. There, he also worked as a faculty member in the division of plastic surgery at Harvard Medical School.
When he relocated to Sonoma County, Dr. Canales served as the chief of plastic surgery at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and as the chief of surgery at Warrack Hospital. In 1992, he co-founded Plastic Surgery Associates with his wife, Dr. Heather Furnas. As a seasoned plastic surgeon, Dr. Canales is adept in all aspects of aesthetic care for the breast, face, and body.

Education and Training
Dr. Canales was educated and trained at two of the most prestigious academic institutions in the country: Harvard University and Stanford University. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors at Harvard, he then completed his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Canales was particularly interested in plastic surgery and elected to take on additional surgical training. He completed his plastic surgery residency at Stanford University Hospital.
Humanitarian Work and Hobbies
Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Canales feels a strong connection to Latin America and volunteers his skill and experience repairing cleft lips and birth defects to children in Nicaragua, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Argentina, and Kenya. When not serving the plastic surgery needs of people locally and internationally, Dr. Canales enjoys Masters Swimming and spending time with his wife and two children, Diego and Siena.
